The Jews were told that they were going for \u201cresettlement to the East\u201d which they soon found to be false. Deportation was accomplished by rail, on which they traveled primarily in cattle cars but sometimes in passenger cars as well. The deportation system in Europe employed around one million workers who ran multiple transports every day.
