This intelligence mission was intended for the bombing of the adjacent rubber and fuel factory at Monowitz. Jewish leaders pleaded with the United States&#8217; government to bomb Auschwitz and stop this \u201cmurder machine.\u201d Officials declined to bomb Auschwitz, stating that they would not be able to bomb the area with sufficient accuracy.
