Many of Jewish scribes boldly refused to hand over their ghetto\u2019s Jews for deportation and death and were willing to suffer the consequences of death themselves. Jewish scribes dedicated themselves, even in the darkest hours of the Holocaust, to study and preserve the treasured scrolls of the Torah as vital to their Jewish communities.
